James L. Patterson, age 80, of Belle Center, Ohio, passed away Tuesday evening April 15, 2014, after a long illness.
He was born in Logan County Ohio March 27, 1934, to the late Alfred and Helen (McGinnis) Patterson. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Alfred J. Patterson, Larry Patterson, Maxine Pemberton and Janie Chamberlin.
On July 20, 1957, he married the former Margaret Scott in Zanesfield, Ohio and she survives along with their daughters, Lynda (Jeff) Holycross and Jean (Ken) Patterson-Durr; granddaughters, Meredith Passaro, Adelyn Passaro and Olivia Durr; step-granddaughters, Corey (Braden) Gueth and Abby (Nate) Alexander; four step-great grandchildren; brothers, Joe (Shirley), Ed (Ruth), and Mike (Karen) Patterson; sisters, Joann (Herb) Litteral and Marge (Fred) Chasteen, and many nieces and nephews.
A 1953 Belle Center High School graduate, Jim worked at D.A.B. in Bellefontaine, Ohio for forty three years.
A gifted athlete, Jim played semi-pro baseball as a young man and later took up softball and golf. He was an avid gardener, mushroom hunter, and trapper and was home in the woods and fields of Logan County. He was a devoted husband, a loving parent and proud grandfather.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. in the Northwood Cemetery Friday, April 18, 2014, with Pastor Terry Robinson officiating.
The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center handled the arrangements.
