James Harvey Schultz was born: March 4, 1938 and passed from this life on November 23, 2018 as a result of a long courageous battle with Lewy Body dementia. He was with his wife and sons at Van Crest nursing home in Urbana when he passed into the arms of his Savior. Jim was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio to Gustav and Mabel Schultz who preceded him in death.
Jim was the beloved husband of Nedra Sue Casey Schultz who remains to mourn his passing having been married for nearly 60 years. They met in school in 1956 and were married on June 6, 1959. They were the proud parents of two sons: James Scott (Barbara) Schultz of West Liberty, OH and Christopher David (Nancy) Schultz. of rural Bellefontaine. Jim had 7 wonderful grandchildren including Hannah (Larry) Craig of TN, Rebekah (Jacob) Siefert of AL, J. Levi (Maggie) Schultz and Jacob (Annelise) Schultz of Urbana, Emily Schultz, Adam Schultz and Rylie Schultz of rural Bellefontaine. He had 5 living great-grandchildren.
Jim’s family included his siblings Ruth Schultz of Columbus, Daniel Schultz of Sidney, David (Jane) Schultz of Zanesfield and two sisters-in-law who preceded him in death: Doris (David) Schultz and Cristene (Dan) Schultz. His nephew Darrin (Teresa) Schultz of MI, niece Teresa Miller of Columbus and nephew Jeffrey McConnell of Boston with cousins, nieces and nephews in Findlay Ohio, Michigan and Milwaukee, WI also. Jim had many in-laws of Sue’s 8 siblings and their spouses and children who are too numerous to name but loved just the same...some in Columbus, California, GA., VA, FL and Bellefontaine.
Except for 3 1/2 years when he lived in Arizona Jim was employed at D.A.B Industries from which he retired. He was an excellent toolmaker and took great pride in a job well done. He greatly enjoyed traveling with Sue and their sons to all the states except Alaska and he and Sue saw many foreign countries. He loved bicycling, walking in the park in West Liberty, going to Christian Fellowship Church, reading the Bible and eating. When living in Arizona Jim and Sue helped to start the Christian TV station owned by Trinity Broadcasting and had a wonderful small group bible study in their home.
Jim’s last year of life was spent in the loving, compassionate care of Campbell Place in Bellefontaine with the last 6 weeks at Van Crest in Urbana.
But far and away above all of the joys, grief’s and accomplishment of Jim’s life was his abiding faith in His Savior Jesus Christ. His faith remained the central part of his weak and failing earthly life as he rejoiced with tears at the mention of the Savior’s love for him and the sound of the many hymns of the faith that comforted him so even to the end. Jim was a man of prayer and prayed for all those he knew, and his hope was for each one to come to the knowledge of the saving power of Christ Jesus to take the penalty of sin upon Himself and to give new life to all who would believe in Him.
