James Edwin Small, 81, of Zanesfield, Ohio, passed away at Mary Rutan Hospital Friday, August 19, 2011. He was born October 9, 1929 in Zanesfield, to the late Willard R. and Helen (Hewlings) Small.
On September 11, 1954 he married Betty L. Pash in Bellefontaine, and she survives along with their children, Judith C. (Ed) Zell of Logan, Ohio, James R. (Kim) Small of Rainbow City, Alabama, Donald D. (Dianna) Small and Joseph E. (Becky) Small, both of Bellefontaine, Thomas W. (Terri) Small of West Mansfield, Ohio, and Rebecca D. (Gary) Saylor of Belle Center, Ohio; two brothers, John Small of Mechanicsburg, Ohio and Robert (Betty) Small of Bellefontaine; two sisters, Florence Hostetler of Freemont, Indiana and Mary (Fred) Woerlein of Marion, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Carol Spain of Bellefontaine; fourteen grandchildren and thriteen great grandchildren. A brother, William Small, is deceased.
Jim was an electrician for Rockwell International for twenty seven years and worked ten years at Siemens. Raised as a Methodist, he was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Friendly Senior Center and the Mary Rutan Hospital Guild. Jim loved being with his grandchildren, visiting with his family and was always the life of the party.
Calling hours are Sunday, August 21, 2011, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine from 2 to 8 P.M. Pastor Chuck Temple will conduct the 11:00 A.M. funeral service Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Vineyard Christian Church in Bellefontaine. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Zanesfield Cemetery with a military service by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Landon Small, James Zell, J. Micah Zell, Zach Small, Cameron Saylor and Cole Saylor.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.
