James Young


James F. “Jack” Young, 86, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010 at Heartland of Bellefontaine. He was born April 16, 1923 in Galion, Ohio, to the late James E. and Grace (Slemmer) Young.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah (Goings) Walters Young, whom he married in Bellefontaine November 22, 2008. Also surviving are three sons, Michael Young and Christopher (Kathy) Young, both of Findlay, Ohio, and Brian (Angie) Young of Maineville, Ohio; a daughter, Shelley Young of Mendon, Ohio; a brother, Fred (Helen) Young of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; a sister, Shirley Earick of Niceville, Florida; fourteen step children; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Pauline Casey Young, a brother, William Young and a sister, Helen Grubbs.

He worked forty two years for the railroad and retired in 1983 from Conrail as manager of the signal department for the states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia.

He was member of the Saten Angles Drum and Bugle Corp from 1943 to 1960, and then helped with the Jr. Corp until 1965. He was a Scout Master of Post # 109 and enjoyed football, especially the Cincinnati Bengals. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing and model railroads.

Calling hours are Wednesday, March 24, 2010, from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where Tony Coy will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 25, 2010. There will be one hour of calling prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
