Janet Callender

Janet S. Callender, 82, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at her son’s home in Newark, Ohio. She was born in Bellefontaine on July 19, 1926, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Agnes Schick Shawver.

On March 20, 1948, she married Robert Lee Callender in Bellefontaine, and he passed away May 19, 1992. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Chuck Shawver. She is survived by a son, Robert C. Callender of Newark.

A member of the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine, she graduated from Washington Local Schools in Lewistown, and The Ohio State University and taught home economics at Bellefontaine City Schools for a number of years. She also taught at Rushsylvania and Zanesfield schools. She was a member of the King’s Daughters and was a bridge enthusiast.

Rev. Michael Valentine will conduct the graveside service at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 17, 2009 in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. Thursday, July 16, 2009, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.
