Janice Kay Gies

Janice Kay Gies, 76, of Jackson Center, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Upper Valley Medical Center. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 3, 1946, to the late Bernard “Bud” Gartin and Betty Jane (McCallen) Hughes.  

On October 7, 1967, she married Thomas L. Gies and he preceded her in death on September 17, 1992.

She is survived by her children: Terri (Bill) Berning and Tim (Mindy) Gies; grandchildren: Christine (Michael) Schrage, Brooke (Curt) Poeppelman, Kerstin (Reggie) Wiechart, Courtney (Tyler) Cratty, and Courtney (Patrick) Gasson-Lee; great grandchildren: Kenzlee, Zoey, Evelyn, Zayden, Noah, Emberlynn, Lyle, and Karsyn; sister, Roseann Robinson; step-brothers: Gene (Vicki) Hughes, Bob (Pam) Williams, and Ron Williams; many nieces and nephews; and her absolute best friend, Janice Shank.

Jan loved her grandkids more than anything in this world. She enjoyed camp outings with her family and her many adventures with her best friend, Jancy.

There will be a funeral service for Jan at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 214 W. Pike Street, Jackson Center. Visitation will be Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Jackson View Cemetery, Jackson Center.
