Jean B. Dixon, 84, of East Liberty, Ohio, passed away Tuesday morning, April 11, 2017 at her home.
Jean was born in Logan County Ohio August 24, 1932, to the late Paul Blackburn and Edith (Inskeep) Blackburn Stevens. She married John Dixon in 1949, and he preceded her in death in 1991. Jean was also preceded in death by a sister Joan Palmer.
Jean was the owner and operator of Jean’s Beauty Shop for thirty plus years, running the business out of her home. She was a member of the American Paint Horse Association, the Middleburg MRS Club, the Middleburg Garden Club and the Middleburg United Methodist Church. Beginning in 1967, Jean and John raised and trained American Paint Horses and started with "Bear Cat" who was nationally recognized as a leading sire. She loved spending time with her family and never missed a family gathering. Sunday meals and Christmas were special times for the family.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Carol Moon of East Liberty and Becky Dixon of Huntsville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jodi (Ernie) England, Mandi (D.J. May) Moon, both of East Liberty and Cassi (Travis) Overton of Columbus, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Tori England, Laykin Thomas and Rylie Thomas, and several special nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio Friday, April 14, 2017, from 4 to 7 P.M. Jean’s nephew, Larry Smith and Pastor Rick Riggs will officiate the funeral service Saturday, April 15, 2017, at 11 A.M. at the Middleburg United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Middleburg Cemetery in Middleburg.
