Jeannette Louise Watkins, 59, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Mt. Carmel Hospital East in Columbus, Ohio.

She was born March 18, 1953 in Rushsylvania, Ohio, to the late John S. and Maxine L. (Rush) Watkins.

Surviving is her significant other, Gary R. Short of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, David (Chris) Watkins of Rushsylvania, Ohio; sister, Joan (Paul) Compton of Ellijay, Georgia; a nephew, John Watkins, and nieces, Michelle Mock, Annie Watkins, Mary Shafer, Amanda Watkins and Hannah Watkins.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Thames in 2009, and a niece, Emily Watkins.

Jeannette graduated in 1971 from Benjamin Logan High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Temple University where she tutored other students in mathematics. She was an office manager at CGI Inc. in Columbus and was a member of the Rushsylvania Church of Christ. She loved to travel, sew and enjoyed arts and crafts. Jeannette was a great cook and along with her sister Jane, worked at the Plaza Inn in Mt. Victory for several years. She took a course in Chinese and enjoyed sharing her knowledge with others.

Pastor Craig Howie will officiate an 11:00 A.M. funeral service Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are Friday, August 31, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Interment will be at the Equality Cemetery in Rushsylvania, Ohio.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Rushsylvania Church of Christ Food Pantry P.O. Box 386 Rushsylvania, OH 43347
