Hawk (Jerry L.) Pope, 74, of rural Bellefontaine, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
Hawk was born on April 26, 1941 in Greenfield, IN, the son of the late Harry K. Pope and Mildred Louise (Bell) Pope who survives in Middletown, Ohio.
He is also survived by his wife, Gayle Melassa (Everhart) Pope, six sons; Sohn Botu Pope, Stoss Kommen Pope, both of Waverly, OH, Adan Kiel Pope of Illinois, Evan Shawota Pope, Seth Peluway-z Pope, and Lukas Peshewa Pope, all of Bellefontaine, a daughter; Judith Dark Eyes Hanley of West Mansfield, many many grandchildren, and best friends; Peter Buffett of New York and Harley Davidson of Urbana.
Hawk was the Traditional Principle Chief of the Shawnee Nation United Remnant Band for 44 years as well as CEO of Zane Shawnee Caverns in rural Bellefontaine.
All services will be held privately.
