Joan R. Wiseman, 83, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 12:23 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty. She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on February 17, 1932 to the late John and Wilma (Weatherby) Downing.
On September 6, 1952 Joan married Patrick U. Wiseman, and he preceded her in death on January 3, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her son, James Andrew Wiseman; a sister, Shirley Dipple; two brothers, Gene & Bob Downing; a sister-in-law, Edna Downing; and a brother-in-law, John Peters.
Joan is survived by her children, John Wiseman of Bellefontaine and Lisa (Rodney) Walters of DeGraff; a grandson, James Walters of DeGraff; three sisters, Betty (Ron) Young of Roswell, New Mexico, Beverly (Jim) Mees and Martha Peters, both of Bellefontaine; two brothers, Jim (Donna) Brewer and Dick (Marie) Downing, both of Bellefontaine; a sister-in-law, Maxine Downing of Bellefontaine; a brother-in-law, Harold Dipple of Bellefontaine; a special cousin, Wilma (David) Gammell of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
Joan worked as a time keeper for the railroad and retired after 32 years of service. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine and enjoyed reading, cooking and watching television cooking shows.
Deacon Harold Dipple will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine where visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Sidney, Ohio.
