John H. “Jack” Bailey Jr., 87, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his home.
He was born October 29, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late John H. and Lourine (Wonderly) Bailey.
On November 12, 1955, he married Belvetta G. (Jordan) Bailey in Edgerton, Ohio and she preceded him in death July 19, 2002. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Edward, and Robert Bailey.
He is survived by two daughters, Deidre (Steve) Oliver of Herriman, Utah, and Sara Freid of Sacramento, California; four sons, John H. (Mitzi) Bailey III of Bryan, Ohio, Christopher (Rachel) Bailey of Santa Clara, California, William (Sandy) Bailey of Columbus, Ohio, and Andrew Bailey of San Francisco, California; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Hennel of Delphos, Ohio and a brother, Richard Bailey of Deland, Florida.
Jack was a United States Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He worked as a supervisor for International Harvester in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Navistar in Springfield, Ohio for forty plus years before retiring in 1992. He was a long-time member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and served on several committees at the church. He also belonged to the American Legion, VFW, Eagles, AmVets, and the Moose lodges all of Bellefontaine. He volunteered for the Logan County Veteran's Honor Guard for many years and along with his wife, assisted the Our Daily Bread and St. Vincent De Paul programs.

Father Shawn Landenwitch along with Deacon Harold Dipple will celebrate a memorial Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine. Inurnment will follow in the columbarium at the Calvary Cemetery in Bellefontaine.
