John W. Beatty, 88, of Belle Center, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 5, 2010 at the Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio. He was born October 31, 1921, in Clyde, Ohio to the late John T. and Lillian (Strohl) Beatty.
He is survived by his wife, Norma M. (Sloan) Beatty, whom he married June 25, 1942 in Kentucky. Also surviving are three daughters, Judy Cousineau of Bellefontaine, Jeanie (Charles) Sullivan of Belle Center and Jackie (Douglas) Woodward of Shellsburg, Iowa; a sister, Ruth Hesser of Belle Center; and a brother, Donald (Kati) Beatty of Marion, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Tara Johnson of Belle Center, Todd (Kelly) Cousineau of Batavia, Ohio, Brian (Krista) Sullivan of Marysville, Ohio, Corey (Brianne) Sullivan of Belle Center, Tina Shuvo, Christine Woodward, and Timothy (Ashley) Woodward all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and nine great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Carl and Edward “Bud” Beatty; three sisters, Ester Kaule, Jessie Baum and Lucille Fulton; son-in-law, Charles Cousineau; and a nephew, Gary Hesser.
John was a member of the Belle Center United Methodist Church and the Belle Center American Legion Post #266. He was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran serving as Crew Chief on the B12’s. He enjoyed camping, gardening, and fishing and was a wonderful cook.
He was a factory worker for BMD and worked for the International Car Company in Kenton, Ohio as a painter.
Calling hours are Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 3 to 7 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Belle Center, where Rev. Kevin Smith will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 9, 2010, with one hour of calling prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center with military honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
