John Michael Carr, 63, of Dayton, passed away at his home. He was born in Bellefontaine on September 23, 1951, the oldest son to John P. Carr, who passed away February 19, 1996 and Mary Lou (Magness) Carr who survives in Bellefontaine. Along with his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Daniel C. Carr.
John is survived by a sister, Cheryl Snyder and her children, Nick Snyder, Tim Bates, and Matthew Bates; four brothers, George Carr, Rick (Shelly) Carr, and their children, Adam Carr and Sarah Hall; Dave Carr, and his children, Katie Halm, Josh Carr, Tasha Carr, Emily Coyer, Clay Carr, and Logan Carr; Greg (Mandi) Carr, and their children, Tricia Birt, Erica Carr, Shannon Carr, Justus Carr, and Gabe Carr; and Daniel’s son, Sean Carr.
John was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran, who served in Korea. He was employed at Elsa’s Restaurant on Linden Ave, in Dayton for 33 years, before retiring in 2014. John loved his family and helping others. He enjoyed traveling, movies, music, and was a Dayton Dragons, Cincinnati Reds, and Cleveland Browns fan. John was a lover of dogs and had many special dogs throughout his lifetime.
Father Shawn Landenwitch will officiate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 328 E. Patterson Ave, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Bellefontaine.
