John A. Holdren, 75, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
He was born on September 3, 1940 in Bellefontaine, a son of the late Ray and Jessie (Price) Holdren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Diana Holdren in 1980 and sisters, Janet & Ginny.
On October 8, 1958 he married the former Shirley Berry and she survives along with a daughter, Brenda Jo Holdren of Chicago, Illinois; son, Steven Douglas Holdren of Middleburg; grandchildren, Nicki (Derrick) Young of Jackson Center, Connie (David) Owens of DeGraff and Johnathan Holdren of Middleburg; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Colin, Morgan, Graceland & David; sister, Wanda (Sam) Roth of West Liberty and many nieces and nephews.
He was President and owner of Holdren Brothers, Inc., West Liberty where he was second generation, succeeding his Father and Uncle in the business. Growing up he attended the United Church of Christ in West Liberty and later after moving to Columbus he attended the United Methodist Church. A member of the Lions Clubs in West Liberty & Columbus, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Pastor Paul E. Forrey will officiate a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Rd., West Liberty, where visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
