John Jenkins


John Raymond Jenkins, 72, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine. He was born November 5, 1938, in Bellefontaine to the late Harold Bus and Ellen Louise (Murray) Jenkins.

On December 16, 1961, he married Jeanne Tallman in Mt. Victory, Ohio, and she survives along with their daughters, Jenifer (Andrew) Schreiner of Bellefontaine, Jill (Matthew) Paul of Lawrenceburg, Indiana and Jody (Jamie) Danaher of San Diego, California, and a granddaughter, Ellen Suzanne Paul.

After thirty three years as an accountant for Super Foods Services in Bellefontaine, John retired in 1997.

A United States Army veteran, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine. He was a former member of the Bellefontaine Elks Lodge #132, a member of the Ohio State Alumni Association and the Farm Bureau Council. He enjoyed jazz, big band music, dancing, fishing, hunting, his vegetable garden, and all kinds of card games. He enjoyed college basketball and was a Cincinnati Reds Fan. He also enjoyed working on the family farm.

Rev. Ed Beale and Gene Marine will conduct the 10:30 A.M. funeral service Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are from 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, June 23, 2011.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to: First United Methodist Church 210 N. Main St. Bellefontaine, OH 43311; the Logan County 4-H Committee 120 E. Sandusky Suite 1 Bellefontaine, OH 43311; or the Logan County Humane Society 2521 US 68 N Bellefontaine, OH 43311
