John Rutherford, Jr

John S. “Butch” Rutherford, Jr., 59, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away at his residence. He was born December 17, 1951, to the late John S. Rutherford Sr. and Mayme Joan (Oglesbee) Neer.

Surviving are two brothers, Arden (Suzie) Neer Jr. and Andy Neer, both of Bellefontaine, Ohio; Tammi Rutherford Sigman of Mason, Ohio, and Susan Melissa (Lee) Rutherford Alexander of West Liberty, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

A United States Navy veteran, Butch was a heavy equipment operator for the Neer Sand and Gravel Co. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 1080 and enjoyed golfing, fishing and the water.

In deference to Butch’s love of the water, the family will honor his wishes to have his final remains commended to his mother, Mother Ocean.

There will be a celebration Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 2 to 4 P.M. at the V.F.W. Post # 1080 216 Orchard Ave. in Bellefontaine, with a military service by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard at 2:15 P.M.

The staff at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine handled the arrangements.
