John Shepherd

John L. “Shep” Shepherd, 61, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Saturday morning, November 23, 2013 at his home.

He was born in Lima, Ohio February 20, 1952, to Melvin E. "Bus" and Dee (Mawhorr) Shepherd. His father preceded him in death in 2006, and a brother, Roger Shepherd, was killed in Vietnam.

Shep is survived by his mother, Dee Shepherd of Bellefontaine; his companion, Teal Allen of Bellefontaine; his children, Ken (Tiffany) Shepherd of Piqua, Ohio, Roger (Maggie Bowen) Shepherd of Marysville, Ohio, Ashley Shepherd of Bellefontaine, Jeff Adams of Russells Point, Ohio and Alisa (Marek Jazier) Cordle of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Reggie Shepherd, Porter Shepherd, Matix Shepherd, Cassidy Bowen, Blair Carroll, Kylie Adams, Katelyn Cordle, Ethan Cordle, and many more children who thought of John as their father or grandfather; a brother, Mark (Heather) Shepherd of Blanchester, Ohio; a nephew, Jackson Shepherd and a niece, Kadance Shepherd; an aunt and uncle, Lucille and Ed Post of Bellefontaine; and Teal’s children, Jaimi (John Morrow) Price of Zanesfield, Ohio, Candice (David) Kirkpatrick of Bellefontaine, Jonathan (Sara) Allen of West Mansfield, Ohio; and her grandchildren, Dakota, Austin, Summer, Sierra and Makinnly.

John retired from Nash Finch where he worked for 33 ½ years as a forklift operator. Shep was a member of the VFW Post #1080 Men’s Auxiliary and the Bellefontaine Moose Lodge #2568. He loved his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and Corvettes. A very social person, John never met a stranger and could carry a conversation with anybody.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at 1:00 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine with Tom Wilson officiating. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Interment will be at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
