John Timothy Steinhelfer

John Timothy Steinhelfer, age 77, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Saturday afternoon, February 10, 2018 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born in West Mansfield, Ohio August 18, 1940, to the late Donald Frederick Steinhelfer and Margaret Jean (Hufford) Steinhelfer Akey.  John was also preceded in death by a son, Frederick Guy Steinhelfer.

John is survived by a son, Timothy Wayne Steinhelfer and a daughter, Bonnie (Steve) Forster; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and a special friend, Laurie Anderson.

A Veteran of the United States Navy, John worked as a railroad engineer for New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail before retiring after nearly twenty eight years.  He was a member of the Indian Lake Moose and the American Legion.  In his younger days, John played basketball and later loved to hunt and watch sports.

Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate the funeral service Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 1 P.M. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in where visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service.

Burial will be at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran's Honor Guard.
