John E. Ward, 92, of Rushsylvania, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016, in Green Hills Care Center, West Liberty.

He was born on September 16, 1923 in West Liberty, Ohio, the son of the late Bunn & Lina (Stayrook) Ward. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Wayne Allen Ward; a sister, Isador Shaw; a son-in-law, Edward Schrand; and a step-brother.

He is survived by his children, Linda L. (Larry) Sparks of West Liberty, Dale L. (Mary) Ward of Bellefontaine, Gloria A. Schrand and Joni F. (Robert) Meister, both of West Liberty; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his loving friend, Barbara J. Ward of Rushsylvania.

John farmed most of his life and enjoyed tractor pulling. He was very fond of his Oliver tractors. He also enjoyed playing cards, camping, fishing, and square dancing. He attended as many sporting events as he could that involved his grandchildren. He was a former member of the EAGLES, Bellefontaine.

Pastor Bill Walker will officiate a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in the Huntsville Cemetery.

Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
