Jon Charles Swartz

Jon Charles “Chuck” Swartz, age 78, of Bellefontaine, Ohio went to be with his Lord at 7:30 A.M. Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Green Hills Community in West Liberty, Ohio.

He was born in Goshen, Indiana January 5, 1941, to the late Samuel C. and Eleanor (Reist) Swartz. In addition to his parents, Chuck was also preceded in death by a grandson, J.C. Swartz.

He graduated from Premont High School in Premont, Texas, Hesston College in Hesston, Kansas and Texas A&I  in Kingsville, Texas.

On July 23, 1965, Chuck married Jeanie Davis in Premont, Texas and she survives along with their three children, Mark (Trisha) Swartz, Jeremy (Susan Mattison) Swartz, and Heidi Swartz; three grandchildren, Regan Swartz, Justin Swartz, and Jadin Swartz; three sisters, Linda Roth, Margaret (Cliff) Hensel, and Jan (Jim) Erb; two brothers, Keith (Emma) Swartz and Karl (Myra) Swartz and several nieces and nephews.

For a total of forty four years, Chuck taught high school English at Falfurrias High School in Falfurrias, Texas and most recently at Benjamin Logan High School.  He served as co-pastor at Bethel Mennonite Church in West Liberty and enjoyed reading, gardening, a good pun and watching sports. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees. Chuck most especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was known for his kindness, his infectious smile, and friendliness to all people. Chuck was quick to laugh and make others laugh.

Visitation will be held August 3, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Bethel Mennonite Church in West Liberty.

A Celebration of Live Service will be held at 11 A.M. following visitation.

The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty.
