Joseph Dean Patterson, age 76, of Kenton, Ohio passed away Thursday morning, October 5, 2017 at his home. Joe was born in Belle Center, Ohio January 18, 1941, to the late Alfred Gorley and Helen (McGinnis) Patterson. Joe was also preceded in death by his siblings, Maxine Pemberton, Alfred Patterson Jr., Larry Patterson, Mary Chamberlin and James L. Patterson.

Joe married the former Shirley Pennington July 27, 1962 in Oakland, Maryland and she survives in Kenton.  He is also survived by their children, Joseph Dean (Michelle Hess) Patterson, Jr. of West Liberty, Ohio, James (Christy) Patterson of Tucson, Arizona and Debra (Doug) Konieczny of Granger, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Emily (John) Bougher, David Joseph Patterson, Jennifer Patterson, Joey Patterson, Nicole Konieczny, Douglas Konieczny Jr., and Chase Konieczny; three great-grandchildren, Eliana, Sam, and Lydia Bougher; two sisters, Joann (Herb) Litteral of Belle Center, Marge Chasteen of Rushsylvania, Ohio; two brothers, Ed (Ruth) Patterson of Kenton and Mike (Karen) Patterson of Frederick, Maryland and many nieces and nephews.

Joe was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Viet Nam War, the Cuban Missile Crisis and was a military advisor in Iran prior to his retirement after twenty years of service. He then went to work at ATL in East Liberty, Ohio as an Emissions Control engineer. Following a stint in Indiana, Joe worked in Tucson, Arizona for Environmental Systems in Emissions Control. He enjoyed fishing and mowing his yard.

A graveside service will be held Monday, October 9, 2017 at 12:30 P.M. at the Northwood Cemetery near Belle Center with Pastor Kevin Smith officiating. There will be a family visitation period prior to the graveside service from 11 A.M. to noon at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center.

The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center is handling the arrangements and services.
