Juanita Gertrude Barnhart, 98, formerly of Rushsylvania, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at the Gables at Green Pastures in Marysville, Ohio. She was born August 29, 1911, in Hardin County, Ohio, to the late Minor and Jeanette (Hites) Longshore.
On February 6, 1930 she married Wilbur Barnhart in Toledo, Ohio, and he preceded her in death July 24, 1964. Also preceding her in death were three sons, Richard “Pete”, Lester and Paul Edward Barnhart; five brothers, Carl, Sidney, Perry, Irvin and Earl Longshore; and two sisters, Florence Herring and Ethel Ferguson.
Surviving is a daughter, Patricia Farrington of Richwood, Ohio; two daughters-in-law, Wanda Barnhart of Rushsylvania and Juanita Beoger of Springfield, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Larry and Deb Farrington, Judy and Jim Ferguson, Kathleen and Kenny Pritchard, Beverly and Frank Jones, Tami and Vic Deere, Bonnie and Rod Lease, Deb and Dave Booher, Pam and Charlie Alexander, and Rose and Peter Brown; twenty great grandchildren and twenty eight great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A homemaker, her and her husband owned and operated restaurants in Raymond and Kenton, and were known for their homemade pies.
Juanita was a member of the Harper United Methodist Church for 50 years, the Rushsylvania Senior Citizens and the Rushcreek Grange. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks and Indian Lake with her brothers. She also enjoyed crocheting and playing cards.
Rev. William Zeller conducts the funeral service on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at 1:00 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Rushsylvania, where calling hours are from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Norman Cemetery in Kenton, Ohio.
