Juanita Mae Kennedy, 94, formerly of St. Paris, Ohio and West Liberty, Ohio passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 at home in Springfield, Ohio. She was born in Hardin County Ohio December 27, 1918, to the late Joe and Bessie Rollins Vassar.
She married Vernon E. Kennedy January 15, 1948 in South Charleston, Ohio and he preceded her in death in the late 1980’s. Juanita was also preceded in death by a son, Donald L. Yoder; sisters Betty Craddock, Eleanor Straley and Cinda Longbrake, and brother, Don Vassar.
Juanita is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and John Eberts of Springfield; a daughter-in-law, Hattie Yoder of Urbana, Ohio; five grandchildren, Janet Eberts, Rachel (Diana Wilson) Eberts, John M. Eberts, Kim (Bobby) Yoder-Farvour and Tiffany Yoder; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Doris Vassar of West Liberty, and numerous nieces and nephews including Virginia Smith.
Juanita was a member of the West Liberty Church of God and for many years was active with the Champaign County Bowling Association. A farmer’s wife, she was an avid gardener, enjoyed quilting and loved her dogs.
A private funeral service will be held at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty with Pastor Joe Redmond officiating. Interment will be at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty.
