Judith Ann Vernon

Judith Ann Vernon, age 83, of West Liberty, Ohio passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Green Hills Community in West Liberty. She was born in Quincy, Ohio March 28, 1934, to the late John Herman and Catherine (Curl) Allinger.

Judy married Dwight M. “Bill” Vernon June 28, 1957 in Quincy, and he preceded her in death September 29, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jeff Allinger; a sister, Nancy Jackson and a grandson, Joel Vernon.

Judy is survived by sons, Jeff (Linda) Vernon and W. Mark (Nyla) Vernon, both of West Liberty; four grandchildren, Martha (Dan) Petty, Bryce Vernon, Jennifer (Logan) Dunn, and Jason (Amanda) Richter; five great-grandchildren, Olivia and Caise Petty, Laney and Josey Dunn, and Kyle Richter; a sister-in-law, Lois Allinger and nieces Jennifer (Alan) Midgely and Joanna (Mike) Horsely.

A 1952 graduate of Quincy High School, Judy attended Miami Jacobs Business School and worked at DAB in Bellefontaine.  She was the fiscal officer for Liberty Township for over twenty five years before retiring in 2008.  Judy was also a bookkeeper for several local businesses and a member of the South Union Mennonite Church.  The most important part of Judy’s life was her beloved husband Bill, her family, and her home.  She loved living on the farm, taking care of the cattle, sheep, donkeys, her dogs and cats, and just being outdoors.  An avid reader, Judy enjoyed traveling with Bill and eating at Bob Evans.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, January 13, 2017 from 3 to 5 P.M. at the South Union Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall.

Burial will be held on a later date in the South Union Cemetery with Pastor Matthew Williams officiating.

The family was assisted with arrangements by the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty.
