Julia Ester “Essie” Ford, 95, of Port Orange, Florida, and formerly of Belle Center, Ohio for thirty eight years, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the Halifax Health Hospice in Port Orange, Florida.
She was born May 9, 1918, in Cincinnati, Ohio, a daughter of the late Alonza and Janiye (Haner) Sheets.
On August 20, 1938, she married Francis Huston “Hugh” Ford and he preceded her in death July 24, 2008. She was also preceded in death by a son, Wayne Ford.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer (Joe) Yowell of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; a son, Gary (Janet) Ford of Port Orange, Florida; grandchildren Marc and David Gregg, Jerome Barker, Kevin Ford, Christopher and Gregory Ford, and Jamie Marie Ford.
Essie was a school cafeteria worker, loved puttering in her flower garden and was an avid boater spending many a day on Indian Lake with Hugh and friends. Essie and Hugh both had a great love of music. Hugh played at many clubs in the Indian Lake area.
Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate a private graveside service at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
The funeral arrangements were in the care of the staff of the Smith-Eichholtz Funeral Home in Lakeview, Ohio.
