June Herge

June E. Herge, 92 of Bellefontaine, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Heartland of Bellefontaine.

She was born on December 17, 1922, in Bellefontaine, a daughter of the late Alonzo Christopher and Gladys (Mitchell) Jones.

On December 31, 1978 in Lakeview, she married Harold Herge and he preceded her in death on January 20, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Marion.

She was a waitress for 28 years for many local restaurants and a member of the First Church of God, Bellefontaine. Her deepest passion was following the Cincinnati Reds baseball, a true fan!

Survivors include her son, Kenneth Lee (Kathy) Godwin of Reno, Nevada. She will be missed by these special people who brought love and joy to her life; Melvin Leib, Michelle Jones, Ivan Jennings, Pastor Ray Headings, and her “adopted daughter” and best buddy, Wanda Gressner, Lewistown, Ohio. She also leaves behind 4 other children whom she also loved until her death, David M. (Alice) Godwin of DeGraff, Ohio and Daniel E. (Shirley) Godwin of Bellefontaine; daughters, Mary Jane (Homer) Dearwester and Mela Jean (Everett) Patterson of Bellefontaine; 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was truly blessed to have her Heartland family for the past 8 years.

June will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
