Karen L. Coons

Karen L. Coons, 81, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Sunday afternoon, October 25, 2021, at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.

Karen was born in Wayne County West Virginia July 23, 1940, to the late Wayne and Lucille (Perry) Adkins.  She married Richard D. “Dick” Coons November 16, 1969, in Zanesfield, Ohio and he preceded her in death June 7, 1998.  Karen was also preceded in death by an infant daughter Sherri Coons and a sister, Wynema Ann Adkins.

Karen is survived by her son, Greg (Jennifer Joseph) Coons of Bellefontaine; her step-daughter, Deb McCall of Indian Lake, Ohio; two grandchildren: Garrett Coons and Jordyn Coons; a step-grandchild, Justin McCall; a great-grandson, Jenix McCall and several nieces and nephews, including Diana Coons of West Mansfield and Debbie Weaver of Texas.

Karen worked as a secretary at Bulldog Electric, then worked several years at Carter Steel and retired from Wrath Resources.  Following her retirement, she worked part-time in housekeeping at Green Hills Community.  She was a former member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine where she had also belonged to the Kings Daughters.  Karen enjoyed gardening, reading books and spending time with her grandkids.  She was an extremely creative and caring person who loved to write poetry.  She should’ve been a writer for Hallmark.

Friends may call Sunday, October 31, 2021, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.

Burial will be at a later date in the East Liberty Cemetery.
