Karen E. Hover, 76, of Lakeview, passed away Saturday morning, March 16, 2019, at the Campbell Place, Bellefontaine.
She was born in Bellefontaine on May 15, 1942, to the late Thelma M. (Smith) and Garnet Gregg. Karen married Gerald C. Hover on December 4, 1971, in Columbus, and he preceded her in death on August 31, 2015. Karen was also preceded in death by a half-sister Mona Spangler.
She is survived by two step-sons, Thomas (Margie) Hover of Batavia, Ohio and Kenneth (Debbie) Hover of Ithaca, New York; and several cousins and extended family in the Bellefontaine and Springfield area.
Karen graduated from Bellefontaine High School. She worked in Banking and as a secretary for an Insurance Agency, both in Columbus, Ohio. She and Gerald owned Treasures of Indian Lake. Karen assisted in furniture-making while having a passion for painting many pictures and beautiful crafts. They were both members of Indian Lake Community Church and loved Indian Lake.
One of Karen’s best friends was Ellen Perry, who became a sister to her and gave her great comfort and friendship. Karen loved her cats and special cat Heidi, her baby.
Karen’s special times as a youth were spent playing with her neighbors, the Mills Brothers and their sister. She met with them frequently as they would perform in Columbus, and would have them over for meals – their favorite: cold meat sandwiches. The Mills Brothers gave her a special life-size poster of them, this is now on display at the Logan County Historical Society.
A special “Thank You” to the administration, nurses, and staff at the Campbell Place. They gave a loving, caring home to their “family” – the residents – and cared deeply for them. Also, to Kindred Hospice for their kind care.
A graveside service will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday, May 9, 2019 with Pastor Jim Ellington officiating at the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
The arrangements are being handled by the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
