Kathleen Joy Dela Pena

Kathleen Joy Valencia Dela Pena, 17, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away at 3:25 A.M. Friday, August 31, 2012, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born in Guam, USA December 7, 1994, a daughter of Reynaldo and Luz Dela Pena.

In addition to her parents, Joy is also survived by her brother, Ralph Dela Pena; maternal grandparents, Adriano A. and Erlinda E. Valencia; paternal grandparents, Lourdes A. and Ely I. Dela Pena, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal great grandparents, Dionisio and Bonifacia E. Ecal, and Fabian A. and Ninay Valencia; paternal great grandparents, Rodolfo and Felicidad I. Dela Pena, and Cariaco Azares and Ofelia Laila.

Joy was a senior at Bellefontaine High School and had an outgoing personality. She attended St. Patrick Catholic Church, was active in Youth Leadership, played soccer for Bellefontaine High School and loved to shop.

A funeral mass will be conducted by Father Patrick Sheridan Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine. Calling hours are Sunday, September 2, 2012 from 2 to 8 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Interment will be at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellefontaine High School Athletic Department.

The funeral arrangements were handled by the staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.
