Kathryn Ann “Kay” Burch, 69, of Jackson Center, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born on May 22, 1954, in Ft. Benning, Georgia, the daughter of Richard Wise, who survives in Celina, and the late Shirley A. (Foote) Partington.
She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Susie Wise, a sister Vicki Powell, and her brother and sister-in-law, Gale and Ruth Ann Burch.
On January 25, 1973, she married Douglas “Doug” Burch, and he survives in Jackson Center, along with their two sons, Josh (Robin) Burch, Chad (Jill) Burch, six grandchildren: Zach, Ethan, Zoey, Olivia, Aidan, Wyatt, and Grace, one great grandchild, Laila, one sister, Angie (Walt) Gill, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rick Powell, Dan (Marcia) Burch, Tim (Holly) Burch, and Joyce (Ron) Carr, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Kay was a 1972 graduate of Jackson Center High School and after raising her sons into high school, she went to work for Holloway Sportswear in Jackson Center, for 20 years before retiring. She enjoyed playing volleyball with her classmates and friends and loved to host her sons’ friends at their home. Even after graduation, the friends would continue to visit during JC Community Days where Kay would cook and bake for all of them. She liked to entertain large family gatherings too, and appreciated bird watching, especially hummingbirds.
Pastor Bert Schultz will officiate a funeral service on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, 607 S. Main Street, Jackson Center, Ohio 45334. Visitation will be Monday, February 12, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson.
