Kathryn Jean Shirk

Kathryn Jean “Katie” Shirk, age 90, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 11:25 P.M. Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Lima Memorial Health System in Lima, Ohio.

She was born in Columbus, Ohio May 19, 1928, to the late Clarence and Matilda J. (Hazelgrove) Reynolds. In addition to her parents, Katie was preceded in death by a son, Robert Sterling Wampler.

On February 15, 1990, Katie married James Shirk in Bellefontaine, and he survives along with her daughter, Beverly (Steven) Pence; a son, Russell (Nancy) Wampler; four step-daughters, Susan, Brenda, Jean, and Sandy; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Katie had worked as a beautician for over forty years during which time she owned and operated Katie’s Beauty Salon. After retiring as a beautician, she worked at DAB for many years. In her younger years, Katie was a champion go-cart racer. She was a member of the NRA and Logan County Farm Bureau. Katie also enjoyed horses and the riding in the semi with her husband Jim.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.

Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 17, 2018 at the funeral home, where visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of the funeral.

Burial will follow the funeral service at the North Greenfield Cemetery in West Mansfield, Ohio.

The funeral arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
