Kathryn “Kate” O. Taylor, 94, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at her daughter’s residence in West Liberty. She was born on November 3, 1914, in Hardin County, Ohio, to the late Joseph P. and Goldie (Rollins) Collum.
In March, 1933, she married George Richard Taylor in Logan County, and he preceded her in death on January 31, 1971. Also preceding her in death was a son, James Taylor, and a brother, Theodore Collum.
Surviving is a daughter, Ruth E. (Ronal L. “R.L.) Murphy of West Liberty; five grandchildren, Kathy (John) Ault of Colorado, Kelly Taylor of Illinois, Lynn (Ed) Armentrout, Jill (Bill) Klinger and Shaun (Robin) Murphy all of West Liberty; six great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
Kate, an elementary teacher in the Benjamin Logan School district, graduated from Rushsylvania High School and received her degree in education from Ohio Northern University. She was very active at the Harper Methodist Church for many years and was a wonderful youth leader. She later attended the West Liberty United Church of Christ.
Calling hours are Sunday, June 14, 2009, from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty. Rev. Will Stackhouse will conduct the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. at the West Liberty United Church of Christ on Monday, June 15, 2009. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Harper Cemetery.
