Kenneth Carl “K.C.” Steggeman, 89, of Bellefontaine, passed away peacefully at Logan Acres Care Center, on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
He was born in Reading, Ohio on March 21, 1933, the son of the late Clarence and Theresa (Lohmueller) Steggeman.
On October 11, 1958, he married the former Mary O’Brien Steggeman, and were married 52 years before her passing in 2010. He is also preceded in death by their eldest daughter, Mary Patricia Woolf, two grandchildren, a brother, Harold Steggeman, and six sisters: Ruth Rack, Rita Tinder, Wilma Doan, Helen Brady, Mary Steggeman, and Agnes Breitenbach.
He is survived by his children, Theresa (Brant) Dunn of Bellefontaine, Susan (Jim) York of Plain City, Joseph (Kelly) Steggeman, Kevin (Karen) Steggeman, both of Bellefontaine, and Mark Steggeman of Dublin, a son-in-law, Brad Woolf of Bellefontaine, special family friends, Susie Steggeman of Bellefontaine and Michele Steggeman of Hilliard, two sisters, Ethel Houchins of Bellefontaine and Edna Adams of Cincinnati, 13 grandchildren; Heidi, Brien, Micha, Taylor, Connor, Aaron, Emily, Anna, Miriam, Hunter, Alyvia, Nick, Amber, and Cody, 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
K.C. proudly served in the U.S. Navy and worked 20 years for Bellefontaine City Schools and 21 years at Silco Inc. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bellefontaine, Knights of Columbus Council #1782, and Our Lady of Fatima Assembly #3800, Russells Point. He also belonged to the American Legion, Elks, Eagles, and the V.F.W. K.C. enjoyed teaching and helping everyone he crossed paths with. His hobbies included construction, wood working, baking and playing cards. He was a devoted fan of both the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. He loved most of all the Lord through his faith in the Catholic Church and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and numerous friends.
Father Shawn Landenwitch will celebrate of Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022 in the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be Friday, from 4 to 6:45 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311, with Rosary prayers at 6:45 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Bellefontaine, with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 316 East Patterson Ave., Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311, to support the church, the Seminarians, and Calvary Cemetery.
