Larry N. Markin, age 72, passed away peacefully at the Springfield Regional Medical Center September 15, 2017. His parents were Henry and Winifred (Ziegler) Markin. Larry was preceded in death by both parents and his two partners, Charlie and Ray Watkins, who he considered family.
Larry is survived by his wife of fifty years, Judy; his children, Belinda (Wayne) Yoder, Lori (Doug) Rupert, Rhonda (Dan) Sabol, and Tina (Jeff Bertch) Murphy; grandchildren, Liza (Steve) Holliday, Lee (Hannah) Yoder, Leah (Jason) Bailey, Lane Yoder, soon to be, Lane (Blake) McCormick, Josh (Michele) Ellinger, Alex and Scott Zielinski, Jack Zielinski, Tessa (Logan) McCormick, Larry Max Bailey, Macy Murphy, and Maleah Murphy; thirteen great grandchildren; brothers, Edward (Sharon) Markin, Rick (Dorothy) Markin, Barry (Cheri) Markin; a sister, Teresa (Randy Bodey) Harsh and several nieces and nephews.
Larry served in the United States Army in Vietnam where he received two purple hearts.
Larry was a timber buyer and logger most of his adult life, as he worked with partners Charlie Watkins and later Ray Watkins. He made furniture and kitchen cabinets from hardwoods as a hobby with special co-worker and friend, Andy Markin.
One of his favorite past times was fishing with friends and especially his family. Larry took his entire family from kids to grandkids, fishing in Michigan every chance he got. Larry’s family was extremely important to him and made sure he was home for every event in which they participated from kids to grandkids.
Pastor David Brown will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Kingscreek United Methodist Church in Urbana. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 3 to 7 P.M. at the church and one hour prior to the service Wednesday. Burial will be at the Kingscreek Cemetery.
The funeral arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty, Ohio.
