Lawrence J. Thobe, 87, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Tuesday morning, September 10, 2013 at his home.
He was born in Bellefontaine April 27, 1926, to the late Edward N. and Odilla F. (Dapore) Thobe. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Mary T. Stevens, William “Bill” and Frank Thobe.
67 years ago, on July 22, 1945, he married the former Florence Shafer in Indiana and she survives along with their children, Valarie (Jeff) Latimer, Kim Thobe and Maryann Thobe all of Bellefontaine; a granddaughter, Annie (Ben) Manbevers; a great granddaughter, Faith Ann Manbevers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A World War II United States Navy Veteran, Lawrence worked for Penn Central and Conrail Railroads for nearly forty years as an electrician. Most recently he worked at Lowe’s in the electrical department for ten years.
He loved fishing, attending auctions, and was always looking for great bargains at Harbor Freight.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. A graveside will be held at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio Friday, September 13, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Bryan Meadows officiating.
