Leah K. Cook, 93, of West Liberty passed away Friday morning, January 23, 2015 at Mary Rutan Hospital.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 24, 1921, to the late Holmes M. and Reva L. (Loffer) Kress. She married Richard W. Cook on May 23, 1942 in Bellefontaine and he preceded her in death on May 6, 2005. Leah was also preceded in death by son Gary M. Cook on April 25, 2003, sisters Ruth Haustein and Mildred Ballinger; and brother Merlin Kress.
A 1939 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, Leah was a homemaker and lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine.
Leah is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Brian and Janet Cook of Mt. Vernon, Richard and Susan Cook of Tampa, Florida, and Kaye Cook of Bellefontaine; seven grandchildren: Vicki (Van) Harvey, Shannon (Jim) Berner, Ty (Carrie) Cook, Anne (Chad) DaHinden, Aaron (Christina) Cook, Nathan Cook and Sarah Cook; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Miriam Wynn of Elida; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service honoring Leah’s life will be held Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine at 2pm with Pastor Cheryl Siegenthaler officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
