Biography

Leona Byler, 74 years 8 months 30 days, of Belle Center, Ohio, entered into her eternal rest at her home in Belle Center, Ohio Wednesday, February 26, 2014, after battling cancer for four months.

She was born in Hartville, Ohio May 27, 1939, to the late Leroy and Iva (Raber) Zook. She accepted Christ as her Saviour in her youth and remained faithful to the end. She was a member of the Belle Center Amish Church.

Leona married Paul W. Byler May 23, 1969 in Hartville, Ohio and lived in holy matrimony 44 years 4 months 19 days. Her loving companion, Paul, preceded her in death October 12, 2013. She was also preceded in death by an infant brother and an infant granddaughter, Jewel Faith Byler.

Leona leaves to mourn seven children, Rebecca (Marvin) Huston, Jonathan (Susan) Byler, James (Lois) Byler, Iva Kay Byler, Philip Byler, Matthias (Deborah) Byler and Rachel Ann Byler; twenty one grandchildren; siblings, Mary Emma Zook of Hutchinson, Kansas, Wallace (Mary) Zook of Millersburg, Ohio, Homer (Elizabeth) Zook of Uniontown, Ohio, Lydia Ann (Wallace) Wengerd of Wagener, South Carolina, Sara Mae (John) Nisly of Hutchinson, Kansas, Amanda (Abe) Gingerich of Free Union, Virginia, Miriam (Melvin) Mast of Lamar, Missouri, Leonard (Mary) Zook of Jamestown, Pennsylvania and Ruth (Roman) Schrock of Windsor, Missouri, and many extended family members and friends.

The family wishes to express appreciation to all who were a part of Mom’s life. A special thanks to all who gave their time and effort to help with meals, being there with support and encouragement during Mom’s illness.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Lloyd Gingerich residence, 4825 Co. Rd. 96 in Belle Center, from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 9 A.M. at the Mahlon Coblentz residence, 7443 Co. Rd. 49 in Belle Center, conducted by David Miller. Interment will be at the Amish Cemetery in Belle Center.

The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center assisted the family with the arrangements.
