Leona C. Wildermuth, 92, of rural Lewistown, Ohio passed away Thursday morning, March 20, 2014 at her home. She was born in Bokescreek Twp. near West Mansfield, Ohio December 9, 1921, to the late John Lloyd and Hattie Catherine (Corwin) Elliott.

She married Norman J. “Bud” Wildermuth December 27, 1942, in Jackson Center, Ohio and he preceded her in death June 23, 2004. Leona was also preceded in death by a son, Norman Dale Wildermuth in 2010; brothers Howard, Thomas, Wilson, George, Byron and Charles Elliott, and sisters, Phyllis Huffman and Isabel Kohler.

Leona is survived by her children, Dick (Jane) Wildermuth, Dan Wildermuth, Deanna Apgar, all of Lewistown, Don (Cindy) Wildermuth of Tipp City, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Ann Wildermuth of DeGraff, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren, Andy Wildermuth, Kim Wildermuth, Brian Wildermuth, Jeff Wildermuth, Jill Wildermuth, Matthew Wildermuth, Charles Wildermuth, Mark (Abbie) Apgar, Sabrina Apgar, Katie (Kenny) Bolton, Zach Wildermuth, Josh Wildermuth, Hannah Wildermuth and Rachel Wildermuth; three great-grandchildren, Dylan and Lauren Lumpkin and Trisha Bolton; a sister, Mary (Burg) Elliott of Tennessee; a brother, Robert (Pauline) Elliott of Columbus, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Dean Huffman of West Jefferson, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Hilda Elliott of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leona was a graduate of West Mansfield High School. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Jackson Center, where she was active with Circle #3. A loving farmers’ wife for many years, Leona was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was dearly loved by all her family, friends and neighbors. Leona loved cooking, sewing, quilting, gardening, auctions, flowers, and as an avid sports fan – all Buckeye games. She loved spending time with her family, and watching all her grandchildren and their sporting events. Leona was well known for her delicious cakes and pies at the Logan County Fair and at church dinners.

Pastor Kent Hollis will officiate the funeral service Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11 A.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Jackson Center, where calling hours will be held Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2 to 6 P.M. and also Monday from 10 to 11 A.M. prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at the Glen Cemetery.

The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center assisted the family with the arrangements.
