Lois Alene Ruble

Lois Alene Ruble, 82, passed away at 8:23 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Lois was born in Bellefontaine on June 5, 1940, to the late Wendell E. and Mary Ellen (Schrader) Thaxton. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Christina Kay (James) Snapp, and siblings: Cletus Thaxton, Dorothy Tracey, Lucille (Bill) Campbell, and Darrell Thaxton.

Lois is survived by her children: Jeffrey Lee (Lori) Herring of Bellefontaine, James Edwin (Sherri) Herring of Botkins, Jay Alan Herring of Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Jerome Charles (Jenny) Ruble of Gibsonburg; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother Howard (Susan) Thaxton of Phoenix; a sister Lillian Willeke of Bellefontaine; a brother-in-law, Ernie Tracey; a sister-in-law, Marina Thaxton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lois was a 1958 graduate of Belle Center High School. Throughout her life, she never knew a stranger. She worked in several factories, including Westinghouse, HBD, and Bulldog.  Lois loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.

The family will have a private graveside service at Huntsville Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
