Louise Eva May Purdin

Louise Eva May Purdin, age 94, of Bellefontaine passed away peacefully at Green Hills Community on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.

She was born on Tyler Street in Van Wert, Ohio February 5, 1924, to the late Francis and Lenore (Horn) Jenkins.  Also preceding her in death were an infant son, Francis Carl; her brothers, Norman (Betty) Jenkins, and Herthel W. Jenkins; and her sister, Meredith (Ernest) Stevens.

She grew up and attended school in Middle Point, Ohio through her junior year, playing on the girls basketball team and in the school band.  The family moved to Bellefontaine where she completed her senior year, graduating from Bellefontaine High School in 1942.  During World War II she worked at Grimes Manufacturing in Urbana assembling landing lights. On April 11, 1945 she married Audleigh W. Purdin, who survives.  A stay at home Mom; she was a good and loving wife, Mom, and grandmother.  Her family was always first and foremost in her life.  In 1968 she started working at Porters (HBD) and retired from there in 1992.  She was a born again Christian and a member of the First Church of God in Bellefontaine.

Including her husband of 73 years, survivors are her daughter, Sheryl (Philip) Godwin of Bellefontaine; her son, Jeffrey (Janet) Purdin of West Liberty; grandsons, John (Amber Abbott) Godwin of Zanesfield, and Tyler (Julie) Godwin of Avondale, AZ; a great granddaughter, Abigail (Cody Lyons) Godwin of Bellefontaine; great grandsons, Kaleb and Karsten Godwin, both of Avondale, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

Pastor Gary Brown will officiate a memorial service at 2 P.M. Thursday, August 16, 2018, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the memorial service. Burial will follow at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.

The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
