Lucille M. Klopfenstein, 101, of Jackson Center, Ohio, passed away at the Wapakoneta Manor Tuesday, December 17, 2013.
She was born January 27, 1912, in Logan County Ohio to the late William Preston and Etta (Miller) Baughman.
On February 14, 1933, she married Roy C. Klopfenstein and he preceded her in death September 8, 1986. She was also preceded in death by a son, David L. Klopfenstein, three sisters and three brothers.
Surviving is her son, George W. (Sara) Klopfenstein of Sidney, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Carol Klopfenstein of Botkins, Ohio; grandchildren, Lynda (Greg) Keith of Maplewood, Ohio, Craig Klopfenstein of Sidney, Dawn (Mitch) Bailey, Amy (Austin) Regula, both of Jackson Center, Ron (Beth) Klopfenstein and Cheri (Tom) Geis, both of Botkins, and thirteen great grandchildren.
A member of the St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church in Jackson Township, Lucille was a homemaker. She loved to spend time outdoors on her beloved farm where she lived for ninety five years helping drive wagons from field to field, walking the woods hunting mushrooms and picking hickory nuts. She is remembered for the love she put into making her famous molasses cookies. When visiting grandma, the first thing the grandkids went to was straight to the cookie jar. She loved to entertain her family with spontaneous singing such as her “Sauerkraut Song” and telling funny stories. Her lively personality will live on through her great grandchildren who will carry on her energetic and independent spirit.
Pastor Shannon Vogelezang will officiate the 10:00 A.M. funeral service Friday, December 20, 2013, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center where calling hours will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, December 19, 2013. Interment will be in the Glen Cemetery near Port Jefferson, Ohio.
