Lura M. Downing

Lura M. Downing, age 84, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 4, 2020.

Lura was born February 13, 1936 in Bellefontaine, Ohio to the late Nelson and Mary Eleanor (Horn) Hudson.  On December 28, 1954, Lura married John Miller Downing and he preceded her in death September 28, 1973.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois Huber.

Lura worked as a medical secretary, a secretary for the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Departments at Ohio Northern University, and as a Business Teacher at Tippecanoe High School and one year at Bellefontaine High School.  She worked as an interviewer for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services and the Department of Job and Family Services and retired in May 2001.

Lura is survived by three sons, John Charles (Peggy) Downing of Lima, Ohio, Michael E. (Linda) Downing of Cincinnati, Ohio and Steve M. (Lisa) Downing of Pickerington, Ohio; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a sister, Charlotte Belser of Bellefontaine.

There will be no public services, only a private service for the family.

The arrangements are being handled by the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
