M. Gladys Van Ness, 100, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
She was born June 8, 1912 in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Guy Park and Anna (Schwartz) Skinner.
On November 1, 1934 she married Charles “Fred” Van Ness in Sharonville, Ohio, and he preceded her in death in 1966. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert K. Skinner.
Surviving are her children, James “Jim” F. Van Ness of Bellefontaine and Kathleen “Kathy” McDonald of Sidney, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Mary Eva Skinner of Brookville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Jill Hill, Kelly (Bill) Johnson, Amy (John) Hurt, Ryan Packer and Paxton McDonald; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
A 1930 Bellefontaine High School graduate, Gladys worked at G.C. Murphy in Bellefontaine. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine where she was a member of the Lewis Bible Class for forty plus years. She loved to crochet.
Michelle Garver will officiate the funeral service at 12:00 noon Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where friends may call two hours prior to the service starting at 10 A.M. Interment will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the donor’s choice.
