Madeline C. Richey, 73, of Bellefontaine passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in Mary Rutan Hospital.
She was born in Blackfork, Ohio on August 24, 1943, the daughter of the late Melvin and Gloria (Gallimore) Johnson.
On February 22, 1969 she married Lawrence E. Richey and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2014.
She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Richey, a son, Corey Richey, a grandson, Ashten Richey and a great grandson, Xander Richey, all of Bellefontaine, two brothers; Melvin “Eddie” (Gwen) Johnson and Van Johnson, both of Bellefontaine, three sisters; Lolita (Frank) Barnett of Columbus, Sonseeraye (Maurice) Wilson and Marsheiliah (Chuck Ladd) Johnson, both of Bellefontaine, a special aunt, Imogene Borden of Gallipolis and a host of nieces and nephews including a special niece, Jannine Mundy of Bellefontaine.
Madeline belonged to both the Union Baptist Church in Blackfork and Auburn Avenue Baptist Church in Bellefontaine for many years. She was a 1961 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and had worked in housekeeping at the Holiday Inn, Bellefontaine. She enjoyed reading and cooking and spending time with her family, especially her great grandson, Xander.
Pastor Settle W. Townsend, Jr. will officiate a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 in the gazebo in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty. Visitation will be from 11 to 1 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine on Saturday before the graveside service. Light refreshments will follow at Auburn Avenue Baptist Church.
