Marcia Lane

Marcia Ann Lane, 59, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed from this life Wednesday, January 6, 2010, in her home, following a courageous four month battle with cancer. She was born in Bellefontaine May 14, 1950, a special Mother’s Day gift for her proud parents, Willard I. Rollins, deceased, and Sarah M. Ansley Rollins (Calvin) Phillips, who survives.

Marcia grew up in Rushsylvania, Ohio, graduating in 1968 from Buckeye Local High School, where she was named the most outstanding senior. She went on to attend Bluffton College, and in 1970, married the love of her life, Dennis R. Lane.

In addition to her father, Marcia was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Raymond P. Lane, and son-in-law, Trell C. Hall.

Surviving Marcia are her three beloved children, Jennifer (Roger) Darr of Findlay, Ohio, and Ryan (Michelle) Lane and Carrie (Colin) Yoder, both of Bellefontaine; five grandchildren, Jacob and Reiss Hall, Averi Lane and Carter and Caden Yoder; four step grandchildren, Tori and Alek Darr and Reilly and Nolan Robson; sister, Linda (James) Green; mother-in-law, Janet I. Lane; sister-in-law, Shirley (Wendell) Connolly; and nephews, Michael (Julia) Alspaugh and James Alspaugh.

In addition to her loving family, Marcia leaves behind a host of close friends, all of whom will miss her greatly. A childhood member of the Rushsylvania Church of Christ, she later attended the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine. Marcia has long been known for her generous heart, giving spirit, her selfless acts and her kind and thoughtful deeds — always thinking and doing for others. Her greatest joy was her family and she never missed an opportunity to take in that important ballgame, dance recital or school program. Other interests included her beautiful flowers and following the Chieftains and The Ohio State Buckeyes. She had boundless energy and made the best pie Bellefontaine ever tasted.

Pastor Rob Fulton and Associate Pastor Gene Marine will conduct the funeral service at 11 A.M. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, January 8, 2010, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.
