Mardell Godwin

Mardell Godwin, age 80, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 1:22 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2022, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

She was born in Logan County Ohio April 2, 1941, a daughter of the late John and Margaret Losey. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Carver; a brother, David and a grandson.

On September 5, 1959, she married Fred William Godwin and he preceded her in death August 12, 2015.

She is survived by four children: Wesley (Stephanie) Godwin of Bellefontaine, April Sutliffe of Bradenton, Florida, Lisa (Mike) Slagle of Roundhead, Ohio and Dale Godwin of Bellefontaine; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; two sisters, June and Martha; three brothers, Max, Carroll, and Carmin and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mardell worked for H & H Electric before going to work for Siemen’s in Bellefontaine, from where she retired. She was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine and loved to read her Bible. She also enjoyed going on walks, crocheting, and loved to spend time with her family. She was a very caring and giving lady who was always doing for others.

Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2022 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m.

Burial will be in the Zanesfield Cemetery.
