Margaret Jean “Peg” Haner, 85, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away Saturday afternoon April 9, 2011 at the Green Hills Center in West Liberty. Peg was born May 19, 1925 in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, to the late Clarence and Emily Dartt Kerrick. On July 18, 1943, she married Lest Haner who preceded her in death in 1983.

Surviving daughters are; Barbara (Jerry) Landes of West Liberty, and Maureen Haner of Sanford, Florida; three grandchildren, Wendel (Cheryl) Shreiner Landes of Mount Rainier, Maryland, Mark (DeeDee) Landes of Lakewood, Colorado and Bevin (Timothy) Seislove of Limerick, Pennsylvania, and seven great grandchildren. In addition to the death of her beloved husband in 1983, Peg was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

In earlier years, Peg lived in rural Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, where she worked at Dunham’s Department Store and The Green Home. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Wellsboro.

In later years she moved to West Liberty to be near family. She was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church in West Liberty. She worked in the dietary department at Green Hill Center. She was known for saying witty things and making people laugh. She loved to follow golf, care for flowers and birds, loved to read, attend basketball games of grandsons and visit with Maggie, the dachshund.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 16, 2011, at the Bethel Mennonite Church with Pastor David Maurer officiating.

The funeral arrangements and cremation were handled by the staff at Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty.
