Margaret Huston Laporte

Margaret Ruth Huston Laporte, 90, of Bellefontaine passed away at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Campbell Place in Bellefontaine. She was born in Concord Township, Champaign County, Ohio on October 16, 1924 to the late Orla D. and Mae L. (Thrush) Huston.

On May 8, 1946 she married Kenneth Laporte in Bellefontaine, Ohio and he preceded her in death on October 16, 1958. Margaret is survived by two nieces and a nephew; Norma Coyer, Kim (Shane) Summers and Ralph (Keely) Coyer, all of Bellefontaine; several great-great nieces and nephews; and four cousins, John S. Marshall of Piqua, Brenda Hiser of Dayton, Susan Nason of Casstown and Richard Brandon of Newton, Kansas.

A 1942 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, Margaret retired from Westinghouse after 35 years of employment, serving as treasurer of the union for 12 years. She was a member of the First Church of God in Bellefontaine, the CAC Board, Past Secretary/Treasurer for the WAC Class, Past Treasurer for the Senior Citizens Group 2, and served on the Election Board for 5 years.

Pastor Ray Headings will officiate a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio.
