Marilyn June Smith, 80, of Urbana, Ohio, passed away Friday evening, November 16, 2012 at Sterling House in Urbana.
She was born in DeGraff, Ohio January 10, 1932, to the late Lloyd and Iris Huffman Russell. She was also preceded in death by brothers-in-law Gene Smith, Larry Smith, and John T. Rogers; a sister-in-law, Leona Rogers and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ethel and Stanley Smith.
Marilyn married D. Dale Smith April 15, 1950 in the Rosewood Methodist Church, and he survives. She is also survived by five daughters, Pam (Nelson) Spellman of Urbana, Deb (Harry) Alltop of Cable, Ohio, Kim (Tony) Broshes of Urbana, Cheryl (Kevin) Gay of Urbana and Lori (Gary) Ledford of West Liberty, Ohio and Cinda Whaley of Florida, who was like a daughter to her; eight grandchildren, Felicia (Matt) Arnett, Jessica (Beau) Randall, Lesley (Sam) Doria, Dustin and Jessica Alltop, Tyler and Abbey Ledford and Casey Gay; five great-grandchildren, Conner and Maicey Arnett, Riley and Parker Doria and Avery Randall; a brother, Donald (Jean) Russell of Florida; a brother-in-law, Roy (Shirley) Keeran of Cable; a sister-in-law, Lois Smith of Cable, and several nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was a member of the Kingscreek United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren’s games, and watching them show horses and Holsteins at the local, state and national levels, while representing Stan-Mar-Dale Farms. She was active in 5-H and loved to cook. She and Dale loved wintering in Florida for the past fifteen years. Marilyn worked thirty years along her husband, clerking his auctions around west-central Ohio.
The funeral service will be held at the Kingscreek United Methodist Church Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. David Brown officiating. Calling hours will be held at the church Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in the Kingscreek Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingscreek United Methodist Church.
The staff of the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty assisted the family with the arrangements.
