Marjorie J. Cushwa, 92, formerly of Belle Center passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016 in Trinity Community Health Care Center, Beavercreek.
She was born in Bluffton, Ohio on November 25, 1923, the daughter of the late Raymond and Reba Mae (Ewing) Henry.
On March 28, 1942, she married Lowell E. Cushwa and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1982. She is also preceded in death by her son, James M. Cushwa along with two brothers, Carl and Edison Henry and a sister, Carol Howell.
She is survived by her children, David E. Cushwa of Russells Point, Paul L. (Diane) Cushwa of Xenia, Mary Jane Newman-Cushwa of Bandon, OR, Lynn P. Cushwa of Georgetown, TX, and Dale R. (Jerry Engel) Cushwa of Centerville, grandchildren; Dawn Peterson, Deanna Dolezal, Scott Newman, Lisa Klinger, Shannon Cushwa-Fuerst, Roger Cushwa, Michelle Cushwa, Jim Cushwa, Sadie Cushwa, Noah Cushwa, and Keri Echols, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, a brother, Robert Henry, and three sisters; Mary Lou Thomas, Betty Collum, and Phyllis Hempy.
Marjorie was a 1941 graduate of Belle Center High School and was a homemaker who loved her gardening, knitting, her grandchildren and bowling. She was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in 1992. She traveled extensively with various bowling teams and won many awards during her 50+ years. Bowling is what kept her going.
She had a pen pal in England named Betty (Jim) Purdy, who she regularly communicated with since the 7th Grade. The Purdy’s have been to visit Belle Center and Marjorie had visited the Purdy’s in England.
Pastor Jay McMillen of Shiloh United Church of Christ will officiate the funeral service at 12 Noon on Thursday, April 7, 2016 in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine. Friends may call 2 hours prior to Thursday service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami Valley or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
